Monthly Meetings in 2024: We are holding monthly meetings in-person as long as public health recommendations and the weather permits. We ask everyone to please follow current county health advisories. In-person gatherings will occur on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 pm (this is a new time starting with our May 2024 meetings!). In addition, Leaders are always available by phone or email for questions - see contact a Leader. We invite all parents interested in nursing, nurturing at the breast / chest, milk expression, or providing human milk through any means. Children are always welcome and other adults supporting your family. Is this dinnertime for you? You are welcome to bring along a snack or meal for your family to eat during the meeting. 2024 Meeting Dates: Second Tuesday of each month, 6 pm Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library, 5401 Centre Ave Rear, Pittsburgh, PA 15232 (see more location details here) January 9, 2024 February 13, 2024 March 12, 2024 April 9, 2024 May 14, 2024 June 11, 2024 July 9, 2024 August 13, 2024 September 10, 2024 October 8, 2024 November 12, 2024 December 10, 2024 Please check here and our Facebook page for cancellations / changes which may occur if there are any county public health concerns or in case of questionable weather. At a LLL Meeting
You can look.
No two people at a meeting will have the same parenting style. You'll see things you like and things you don't like. Try what you like and leave the rest.
You can listen.
Some people just want to sit and listen when they come. No one will pressure you to participate.
You can ask questions.
"Is this a normal diaper for a breastfed baby?"
"How can I get my baby to sleep?"
"Where can I get a good bra?"
"How can I cope with criticism of my parenting?"
"What do I do with a crying baby?"
We welcome all questions.
You can get out with your baby.
La Leche League Meetings are designed with babies in mind. They're informal, and no one will mind if you nurse, change a diaper or soothe a fretful baby. It feels good to get out with your baby. What better place to come?
You can find friends.
Some friendships that start at La Leche League last long after the children are grown.
You can find someone to talk to later.
La Leche League Leaders are just a phone call or an email away.
You can complain.
Sometimes it helps to talk with people who have "been there." Whatever you're going through, someone at the meeting will have been through something similar.
You can help someone else.
When you come to a La Leche League meeting, you don’t just learn from other parents; other parents have a chance to learn from you. You become part of the pattern of parent-to-parent support that began at the first La Leche League meeting in 1956. This support has spread around the world and continues to spread at all the parent get-togethers that are at the heart of La Leche League.
